Welcome from Duane Dunn

Associate Dean of Academic and Professional Programs at K-State Global Campus

Duane Dunn Associate Dean

During my first few weeks as associate dean for academic and professional programs, I quickly noticed that Kansas State University continues to have the atmosphere of friendship, support, vision and quality that I valued as a student decades ago. K-State deans, department chairs, faculty, staff and students are very welcoming, and I appreciate their hospitality and genuine support.

I'm a true K-Stater, with bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from K-State, all with an education focus.  My bachelor's and master's degrees are in agriculture education, and I completed my Doctorate in Education several years ago. My professional career has included teaching agriculture at the high school and community college level prior to moving into the administration field. I come to K-State with administration experiences at Pratt Community College, Manhattan Area Technical College and most recently serving as president at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School in Liberal, Kansas.

Throughout my career, I have placed emphasis on providing the very best possible experience for the student at the point in his or her life that will lead toward obtaining lifetime goals. That experience may come at different times or through different circumstances, but learning lasts throughout our lifetime, and having those opportunities leads to greater and more fulfilling experiences.

K-State Global Campus provides those opportunities for students, regardless of their location or circumstances. Recently, I was able to visit with students from Florida, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington D.C. and Kansas, who were attending the first session of the Master of Industrial/Organizational Psychology (MIOP) program. I was impressed with their dedication and commitment to the program, and certainly impressed with the professors who lead the program. The completion rate for the program exceeds 90 percent, and many students receive assistance from their employers for the degree. Several of the students learned of the program from peers, colleagues and employers who graduated from the MIOP program. K-State Global Campus is providing these and many other students with the opportunity for career advancement at the ideal time in their careers.

It truly is an honor to be part of that type of a quality organization within the great culture of Kansas State University. I look forward to expanding opportunities for students, expanding the already robust emphasis on quality, and supporting the Global Campus mission, "To extend Kansas State University's intellectual resources through quality degree programs, lifelong learning and professional development opportunities.”
