Tips for Online Success

If this is your first experience with online learning, you may still have some questions about what to expect. These Tips for Success will help you get started in the online learning environment.

Drop Deadlines

If you need to drop a class, make sure you do so before the deadline. Due to differing start/end dates, it is important you know how to view drop dates for each class on your schedule. Dropping all of your classes requires you to contact your academic dean's office. Graduate students should email grad@k-state.edu.

Career Services

If your answer is something like, "I'm not sure, yet" to the age-old question, "So, what are you going to do with that degree?" then you are not alone. Most degrees lend well to a variety of different careers. It's never too early, or too late, to dive deeper into your options. Check out 10 ways to connect your major to a career. Students can also make an appointment with the K-State Career Center. They can help make the process a little less daunting.

Online Tutoring

The Academic Achievement Center provides online tutoring via Zoom for undergraduate students enrolled in K-State Online classes. Whether you're anxious about a course after seeing the syllabus or confident in the material and could benefit from help to lock in that A, request a tutor today.

Smile for the Yearbook

What better way to commemorate your time as a K-State student than through beautiful pictures captured in the Royal Purple Yearbook (well, other than maybe a diploma)? The Royal Purple's mission is to encapsulate student, faculty and staff memories and history at K-State each year. And it always delivers! Graduating seniors can purchase a senior ad by the Feb. 1 deadline. Purchase the 2022 Royal Purple Yearbook now and receive your copy in early May.

Check It Out

K-State Online is pleased to partner for the second year with the 2022 Bill Snyder Highway Half & 5K race. You can register to participate virtually from wherever you live or in person. Use the code WILDCAT and part of your registration fee will go to support scholarships for online students at K-State. Registration is open until race day, May 21, but space is limited. Take advantage of early registration price breaks. Each participant will receive the Bill Snyder Highway Half & 5K T-shirt and finisher medal.

Free Stuff

As a K-State student, you have access to free software, including Microsoft Office (yeah, you heard that right). The Microsoft Office package includes desktop and mobile app versions and can be installed on up to five PCs or Macs, five tablets and five phones.

Kansas Day

Go Kansas, it's your birthday. Kansas Day is celebrated annually on Jan. 29 to commemorate the anniversary of the 1861 admission into the union. #themoreyouknow. K-State is proud to be the state's land-grant university.
