WorldWide Wildcats Weekly Email

August 20, 2018

Welcome

Welcome all new and returning Kansas State University Global Campus students to the beginning of the fall 2018 semester. Note to self: you've got this! Charge your electronics, because every week for the next 16 weeks, we'll be delivering you need-to-know information just for distance students — aka the WorldWide Wildcats.

What Does That Mean

As you progress through your online courses, you may encounter new technology-related terms or systems. This list of distance learning terminology may help identify some of the requirements or features in your courses. #likeaboss

K-State Online

Access your online classes through K-State Online (aka KSOL aka Canvas aka that place you'll be spending all your time). If you're new to Canvas, take the K-State Online Tour. Download the app on Android and iOS devices to take your courses with you on the go. Brace yourself. Push notifications are coming.

Tuition

Tuition for most students is due today at 3 p.m. CST. Visit your Student Center in KSIS for details. There are two online payment methods: paying by credit card incurs a fee, while paying by electronic payment out of a checking account is free of charge. The Tuition Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) allows payments to be spread out over the semester. View all payment options.

Textbooks

If you haven't already, be sure to order your textbooks and materials as soon as possible. Visit our website for instructions on how to locate and purchase the required textbooks.

Free Software

As a K-State student you have access to free software, including Microsoft Office. The Microsoft Office package includes desktop and mobile app versions and can be installed on up to five PCs or Macs, five tablets and five phones. Batteries not included.

Student ID Cards

The Wildcat Card is the official K-State identification card. Due to K-State ID Center policies, we are unable to offer ID cards to K-State Global Campus students via postal mail, so stop at the ID Center if you are able to visit the Manhattan or Polytechnic campuses. Students in the Kansas City area can get their ID card during a one-day event at K-State Olathe on Tuesday, Aug. 28. Stop by the Cat's Pause room (#225) any time between noon and 5:30 p.m to get your card. Proof of identity (state-issued driver's license, state-issued ID card, military ID or passport) is required. New cards are $18 and replacement cards are $20. The cost will be applied to your KSIS account.
