What Does That Mean?

As you learn online, you may encounter new technology-related terms or systems. This list of distance learning terminology may help identify some of the requirements or features in your courses. Here's to you being in the know.

Online Tutoring

The Academic Achievement Center provides online tutoring via Zoom for undergraduate Global Campus students who are enrolled in K-State courses. Zoom is like Skype and we heart it for keeping in touch with students all over the globe. Complete the Online Tutor Request Form.

Drop It Like It's Hot

If you need to drop a class, make sure you do so before the deadline. Regular session (aka full semester) courses follow these drop/refund deadlines. Non-standard (aka short) courses have unique drop/refund dates and follow these deadlines. Dropping all of your classes requires you to contact your academic dean's office. Graduate students should email grad@k-state.edu.

Proctored Testing

Some online courses may require an exam proctor. Q: What's a proctor? A: A person who monitors students during an exam. If a proctor is needed, you will receive a reminder email from our office near the start of the semester. Our website provides more information on proctoring services and locations because we're helpful like that.

Apply For Scholarships

Current students should apply for scholarships offered through the Office of Student Financial Assistance by Feb. 1. These are for scholarships awarded for the 2018-2019 academic year. K-State Global Campus has a separate scholarship application that will be open Feb. 15 through April 1. Students should complete both applications.

Special Assistance

The Student Access Center is committed to providing equal access and opportunity for students with disabilities. Arrange for the academic accommodations and support you may need during your course.

Landon Lecture

Activist and philanthropist Joyce Banda, the first female to serve as president of the African nation of Malawi, will present a Landon Lecture at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at the K-State Student Union. Landon Lectures are free and open to the public. Watch the live stream.

Kansas Day

Go Kansas, it's your birthday. Kansas Day is celebrated annually on Jan. 29 to commemorate the anniversary of the 1861 admission into the union. #themoreyouknow K-State is proud to be the state's land-grant university.
