Kansas Insurance Undergraduate Certificate
The Kansas Insurance Certificate aims to provide specific training to individuals seeking to begin a career in the insurance industry. Students completing the program will have a strong understanding of basic financial planning concepts with an emphasis of knowledge in insurance including health, life, property and casualty, annuities and insurance-related employee benefits.
This undergraduate certificate meets the requirements of the Kansas Insurance Education Foundation, which has partnered with industry leaders to seek out qualified graduates of this program. This state-wide initiative is designed to promote the insurance industry among financial planning and business majors.
The courses required for this certificate also apply toward the core coursework for the personal financial planning bachelor's degree, also available completely online.
Those who complete the Kansas Insurance Certificate will be qualified for work in the insurance industry by completing the following objectives:
- Demonstrate an understanding of key concepts of individual and family insurance planning
- Demonstrate an understanding of the insurance planning process
- Identify key insurance products and their recommended uses
- Analyze and evaluate different insurance situations and make specific recommendations
Students in this program are eligible for the K-State Kansas Insurance Certificate Scholarship, a $1,000 award given only to students pursuing this certificate. Recipients must be enrolled in the certificate program to be eligible.
