Financial Counseling Minor

The undergraduate minor in financial counseling provides an overview of the content needed to prepare for a career as a financial counselor for students not enrolled in the personal financial planning major. The program also satisfies the educational requirement for non-major students who want to earn the Accredited Financial Counselor® designation.

With the increased complexity of the financial markets, individuals with knowledge related to financial counseling is needed now more than ever. A number of professions are seeking to employ individuals to educate the public, employees and/or clients related to financial counseling concepts. Financial counseling is a growing field and a necessary personal skill in today’s complex financial market.

Students from every academic background can benefit from the skills offered through this program. The suite of programs offered in personal financial planning through the College of Human Ecology are well-known for their excellence on a national scale.

Accreditation

Kansas State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

The personal financial planning minor is offered through the School of Family Studies and Human Services in the K-State College of Human Ecology.
