Application Process for Data Analytics Certificates

Undergraduate Certificate

1. Review Admission Requirements

To qualify for admission into the online data analytics undergraduate certificate, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Students with fewer than 24 completed college credit hours must have a minimum college cumulative GPA of 2.0 and demonstrate proof of high school graduation or GED equivalent
  • Students with 24 or more completed college credit hours must have a minimum college cumulative GPA of 2.0

Current K-State Students

Current K-State undergraduate students are not required to submit an application and may contact their academic advisor to inquire about completing the certificate program.

2. Review Application Requirements

The data analytics non-degree certificate program application fee is $40. Apply online and pay the application fee using the undergraduate application. You must be admitted at least 30 days prior to the semester you want to begin.

In the online application form you will be asked the following questions and for the certificate you should answer as follows:

  • Do you plan to complete a degree? No
  • Are you seeking a post-degree minor? No
  • Are you seeking a certificate? Yes
  • Do you plan to take more than 15 credit hours at K-State? Yes
  • Where will you be taking K-State courses? Distance Education

After answering these questions you will have the opportunity to select the Data Analytics Certificate from the list.

Returning K-State Students

Students who have not enrolled at K-State for at least one semester (excludes summer) must reapply. Students will not have to pay the application fee again or resend official required documentation unless additional college coursework has been completed since last enrolled at K-State.

4. Send Additional Documentation

Students with fewer than 24 completed college credit hours are required to submit an official high school transcript or GED equivalent and college transcripts from each institution attended.

Students with 24 or more completed college credit hours are only required to submit official college transcripts from each institution attended.

Proof of English Proficiency

Students whose primary language is not English must submit proof of English proficiency during the application process by providing any one of the following official minimum test scores:

Exception:
students who have completed four years in a U.S. high school with grades of C or better in all college preparatory English courses or who have earned 24 credit hours from a regionally accredited U.S. institution with grades of C or better in English Composition I and II are not required to take any of the above English language proficiency exams.

Note: student-issued or personal copies of transcripts or test scores are not considered official records and will not be accepted. 

Graduate Certificate

1. Review Admission Requirements

To qualify for admission into the educational technology graduate certificate, students must have already completed or meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA on last 60 undergraduate credit hours
    OR 3.0 minimum graduate GPA
    OR concurrent enrollment in another graduate degree program
  • At least one course in business or fundamental calculus
  • At least one course in business or fundamental statistics
  • Advanced level of comfort working with computer applications
  • Advanced level of programming fundamentals if entering the data science track

2. Review Application Requirements

Application Deadlines

  • U.S. Applicants
    • Applications are accepted year-round. Applicants should plan to apply within two to three months from the start of the semester. The fall semester begins in late August, the spring semester begins in late January and the summer semester begins in late May.
  • International Applicants
    • Fall semester (begins in late August): January 1
    • Spring semester (begins in late January): August 1
    • Summer semester (begins in late May): December 1

Students who would like to get started right away but have missed the deadline may take classes as a nondegree-seeking student. Contact us for assistance.

3. Prepare to Apply

Please be prepared to upload the following information when completing the online application.

  • A statement of objectives explaining the goals and purposes for seeking this graduate certificate
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Unofficial transcripts from each institution attended
    • Failure to list any colleges or universities from which the applicant received a degree or enrolled in graduate coursework may result in dismissal from the university.
    • If transcripts are not in English, the applicant must furnish a translation by an appropriate authority.
    • Applicants will be asked for official transcripts after notification of admission.

Scores must be self-reported within the application and official scores must be sent by the testing service to K-State.

Exception: students who have received a degree in the last two years from a U.S. college or university are not required to take any of the above English language proficiency exams.
