As the Marketing Project Manager/Graphic Designer for Kansas State University Global Campus, Mary coordinates and executes the design and production of marketing materials for K-State’s online courses, conferences and programs. Materials produced include printed publications, ad campaigns, direct mailings, website design, email campaigns, posters, display boards and signage. She has a solid understanding of social media strategy and marketing and has applied it to K-State Global Campus projects. Mary is responsible for the management of the university’s brand within K-State Global Campus and provides art direction for all promotional efforts.
Mary has received multiple marketing awards for her work in continuing education. She has also served from 2013-2016 on the seminar planning committee for the UPCEA Marketing and Enrollment Management Seminar.
Prior to joining K-State Global Campus, Mary worked for many years in Phoenix as a graphic designer in the corporate marketing departments of PetSmart, Computerland, CB Richard Ellis, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. From there, she took the art director position in The Arizona Heart Institute’s communications department. Following her entrepreneurial spirit, Mary left the corporate world and established and ran her own advertising design firm for nearly 20 years. Artefx Design served clients mainly in the medical and high-tech fields. After moving to Seattle, in 2003, Mary accepted the position as the corporate marketing artist for Sound Publishing, the largest community news organization in Washington State. In addition to art direction and design, Mary was responsible for managing a team of four full-time marketing artists and was responsible for the interviewing, testing, hiring and maintenance of a group of qualified on-call (freelance) artists. She moved back to Kansas in 2010 to be closer to her family and started working at K-State Global Campus.
Mary holds Bachelor of Art degrees in journalism (advertising option) and art (graphic design option) from Kansas State University.
After she leaves K-State Global Campus for the day, Mary puts on her other hat as the owner of MuttSchool-KS, LLC. Mary has achieved three professional dog training certifications (CPDT-KA, KPA-CTP, and CTDI). At first glance, you may not think it to be relevant to marketing, however using her positive reinforcement skills isn’t just for the dogs. She believes in creating teamwork, inspiring and building people. Those skills are a part of her, no matter if she’s teaching someone to train a dog or working with you on a marketing project.
