- Identifies strategies/initiatives/programs/projects that provide opportunities for Global Campus to position itself as highly effective and entrepreneurial in its approach and ensure success in accomplishing the goals and objectives of Global Campus.
- Coordinate information systems within K-State Global Campus as well as act as a liaison to ISO, OME and other offices to integrate systems used at K-State Global Campus with those used on campus.
- Lead data collection, analysis and reporting for K-State Global Campus and in support of strategic enrollment management initiatives.
- Oversees the operations for course and section administration and registration services.
Kathy Burkholder serves as the Director of Strategy, Information Systems and Operations at Kansas State University’s Global Campus. Her primary focus is on strategy, continuous improvement, and enrollment growth by providing leadership and recommending direction on key projects or programs that have the potential to push the boundaries of Global Campus’s performance, competitiveness and success. Additionally, Kathy is in charge of data collection, analysis, metrics, reporting and databases, and supports Global Campus’s enrollment funnel and strategic enrollment management efforts. Kathy leads the day to day operational management of the strategy, information systems and operations team which includes registration and noncredit support, as well as course and section scheduling. Kathy serves on several campus-wide initiatives and committees.
Prior to joining Global Campus in 2010, Kathy worked for a variety of small, medium, and Fortune 500 companies in various management capacities primarily in the areas of operations, finance and supply chain. Kathy has experience and training in process improvement and was formerly a Six Sigma Black Belt.
Kathy was selected for the 2016 ACHE Emerging Leadership Institute and 2016 Coffman Leadership Institute. Kathy is a graduate of the tri-state Leadership Siouxland program and has served voluntarily in a variety of community organizations, including leading a Women’s Build for Habitat for Humanity.
Kathy and her husband Mark Appel live in Manhattan, KS and Omaha, NE and have two grown sons.
