Biobased Products and Bioenergy Graduate Certificate
The biobased products and bioenergy graduate certificate is designed to provide post-baccalaureate educational opportunities for industry practitioners who do not require a full graduate degree program.
The program covers bioprocessing and biobased materials used in a sustainable environment, providing an interdisciplinary background so students can tailor the program of study to specific interests. Course work includes topics such as bioprocessing/conversion, feedstocks and sustainability.
This program is offered through AG*IDEA, a national consortium of universities offering programs and courses in agriculture disciplines.
Careers in Biobased Products and Bioenergy
The rapidly expanding industry of bioenergy and biobased products requires a trained workforce. Private industry now actively recruits individuals with specific training in bioprocessing and biobased materials. Chemical feedstocks, materials and fuels derived from biomass have received increasing emphasis nationally. With increased interest in green chemistry and sustainability, along with escalating crude oil prices, emphasis on the utilization of biomass for energy and materials continues to increase.
Kansas State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
The biobased products and bioenergy graduate certificate program is offered through the agronomy, biological and agricultural engineering, chemical engineering and grain science and industry departments in the College of Agriculture and the College of Engineering.
